Whenever Kemdrum Dosha is discussed, the other yogas and doshas in the horoscope are first analyzed. According to experts, Kemadruma Dosha should be understood as a lion, and the yogas in the horoscope should be understood as an elephant. Thus, we can infer that a single lion can drive away a herd of elephants. Similarly, it is said that a single Kemadruma Yog in the horoscope has the power to destroy other Rajyogas in the horoscope. However, this cannot be said in every situation. The determination depends on the house in the horoscope in which the Kemadruma Yog is formed, as well as on which combination in the horoscope dissolves this Dosha.
The Moon is the factor of the mind and brain, and since it is closest to the Earth, this planet has the greatest influence on humans.
Kemdrum Dosha is always seen in relation to the Moon. When there is no planet in the house before or after the Moon in any horoscope, it is called Kemadruma Dosha. In other words, when the Moon is alone in any house, and there are no planets in the houses before or after it, it is called Kemadruma Dosha. One thing must be understood here: Rahu and Ketu are not planets but shadow planets. Therefore, even if Rahu or Ketu is present in the second or twelfth house from the Moon, that house is considered without a planet. Therefore, even if Rahu or Ketu is present in the house before or after the Moon, it is also considered Kemadruma Dosha. It is considered to be a negative effect, and if either Rahu or Ketu is located near the Moon, it is considered even worse.
Kemdrum Dosha is considered the most significant defect in a horoscope because it has specific causes, the main ones being:
Kemadruma Dosha is always seen according to the position of the Moon, so a person should always remember that a person with Kemadruma Dosha in their horoscope is restless, has a disturbed mind, and becomes easily agitated in difficult situations. In addition, some of the following symptoms are observed:
Whenever the Kemdrum Yog appears in a horoscope, the primary concern that arises in people's minds is whether this affliction can ever be completely eliminated from their lives. To address this, we must first understand the mythological legend of Lord Chandra (the Moon)—specifically, how he was cursed to suffer from a wasting disease and how, through intense penance dedicated to Lord Shiva, he eventually attained liberation from this affliction.
According to this legend, King Daksha had twenty-seven daughters, all of whom he gave in marriage to Lord Chandra. However, Chandra harbored the deepest affection for Rohini. When King Daksha's other daughters complained to their father about Chandra's partiality, the enraged King Daksha cursed Chandra to suffer from a wasting disease, causing Chandra's radiance to diminish completely. To find deliverance from this curse, Chandra performed rigorous penance dedicated to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva granted him a boon, stating that while he would not be able to regain his radiance in its absolute, unchanging form, his brilliance would instead wax and wane—reaching its full intensity on the night of the *Purnima* (Full Moon). Consequently, the Moon appears to grow and diminish in accordance with the lunar *Tithis* (phases), and in this manner, he attained liberation from the curse.
Whenever one hears about the presence of Kemadruma Dosha in a horoscope, the first question that invariably crosses everyone's mind is: "Where should the remedial puja for this be performed?" To understand this, let us revisit the legend of Lord Chandra (the Moon God). It is said that Lord Chandra's childhood name was "Soma." When his radiance began to wane continuously due to a curse inflicted by King Daksha, he established a Shiva Lingam to perform penance dedicated to Lord Shiva. This shrine is known today by everyone as the Somnath Jyotirlinga. Through the special worship of Lord Shiva at this site, Lord Chandra was liberated from the curse cast upon him by King Daksha.
Therefore, always remember: whenever Kemadruma Dosha is present in a horoscope, the very first step should be to visit a Jyotirlinga shrine to perform the remedial worship. Prominent among these are Somnath, Mahakaleshwar, Trimbakeshwar, Kashi Vishwanath, and Baba Baidyanath Dham. Among these, Mahakaleshwar in Ujjain stands out as a site where remedial pujas for *all* types of astrological defects (Kundali Doshas) are performed, as the scriptures declare:
"Akashe Tarakalingam, Patale Hatakeshwaram"
"Mrityu Loke Mahakalam—Trayam Lingam Namostute"
"आकाशे तारक लिंगम, पाताले हटकेस्वरम "
"मृत्यु लोके महाकालं, त्रियम लिंगम नमोस्तुते"
Lord Mahakal is revered as the King of *Mrityu Loka* (the mortal realm); consequently, this location is considered immensely significant for the rectification of every conceivable astrological defect. When specifically addressing Kemadruma Dosha, the significance of this sacred site becomes even more profound. For this very reason, a vast majority of individuals whose horoscopes contain Kemadruma Dosha choose to visit Mahakal, Ujjain, to seek a remedy. Thus, it can be affirmed that Ujjain is an exceptionally vital destination for performing the remedial puja to alleviate Kemadruma Dosha. However, always bear in mind that when seeking a remedy for this specific defect in Ujjain, it is considered far more meritorious to perform the worship before a *Swayambhu* Lingam (a Shiva Lingam that has manifested spontaneously) rather than before a standard installed Shiva Lingam or one situated at a river ghat.
If your horoscope contains any kind of astrological affliction (Dosha), and you are traveling to Ujjain, Trimbakeshwar, Gaya, Prayagraj, Banaras, Haridwar, Brahmakapal, or any other sacred site to perform rituals, you should, at the very least, ensure—prior to the ceremony—that your worship is conducted exclusively by a *Vardani Pandit Ji*. Do you know who *Vardani Pandit Ji* is? You will find the answer below.
When Mars is combined with Rahu or Ketu in a horoscope, it is considered an Angarak Dosha. When Rahu or Ketu are combined with Mangal Dosha (in the 1st, 4th, 7th, 8th, or 12th houses of the horoscope), some scholars also call it Double Manglik. Some people also consider the conjunction of Saturn and Mars as Angarak Dosha, but this is not true.
